Newshacker.me: Turning Hacker News into an Anti-Echo-Chamber Entry Point
The launch note for Newshacker.me, a Chinese Hacker News digest built around higher-quality sources and exposure to different points of view.
To reduce echo chambers and information cocoons, I built Newshacker.me.
The goal is to make different points of view visible as they are, instead of only letting people see the information that circulates inside their own social circles.
The early user data is also interesting:
- Most browsers are Chrome.
- Apple operating systems dominate.
- Desktop devices account for most visits.
People often warn about garbage in, garbage out. But with higher-quality sources, quality in can also become quality out.
Update: November 11, 2025
I just noticed that TopHub, a Chinese information aggregation platform, is recommending a “Chinese Hacker News selection” on its homepage, and it is directly using data from Newshacker.me.
They move fast.
